PURPOSE

The awards fulfil one of our strategic objectives, which is to celebrate and preserve excellence. A broader scope of the purpose of these awards could best be summarized as follows:

  • To unearth unsung excellence
  • To celebrate, recognize, encourage, and entrench good Governance and Ethical Leadership in our society.
  • To showcase the standard of leadership to which the Bpi collective aspires to and seeks to influence others into similar thinking or the values we espouse.
  • To create a networking platform for the Bpi community to interact with other key stakeholders from different sectors of society.
  • To position the BPI as a centre of excellence

CATEGORIES OF AWARDS & SELECTION CRITERIA

  • Individuals/Professionals over the age of 70 who have throughout their lives dedicated themselves, their knowledge, skills, time, talents, and efforts to a cause that advanced the betterment of their professions and humanity in general.
  • Individuals/Professionals who have undoubtedly served their professions and humanity with great distinction and stood out amongst their peers.
  • Individuals/Professionals who have throughout their working lives consistently, uncompromisingly, and exceptionally demonstrated Ethical Leadership and upheld Good Governance in the different positions they ever held and leadership roles they were entrusted with.
  • Individuals/Professionals who are highly regarded by their peers and respected by society broadly for having led a very outstanding and meaningful life of service.
  • Individuals who have led a very exemplary life that has been free of any notable professional scandal or questionable conduct.
  • Professionals or Executives who have spent a considerably lengthy period of time leaving a quantifiable trail of heightened excellence and success in their businesses/work or in the management of very significant entities they lead or have led.

  • Professionals or Executives who have consistently and exceptionally demonstrated unwavering ethical conduct in their known business/professional dealings and in the management of their businesses, or those which they are entrusted with to lead.

  • Professionals or Executives who are highly regarded by their peers within the business fraternity, professional circles and beyond (across different sectors of society), as having led a life of very distinctive and selfless service in the advancement of their designated trade or profession, exceptionally.

  • Professionals, Executives and Leaders whose leadership The Bpi Foundation Board declare to be a standard of leadership to which other people in similar positions or peers should aspire and be held to.

  • Individuals/Professionals who have undoubtedly served their professions and humanity with great distinction and stood out amongst their peers.
  • Individuals\Leaders who play a very key or meaningful role in brokering global peace. They are actively involved in endeavors to unite people and sustain global peace.

  • Trailblazing Professionals, Executives, Businesspeople or Leaders who through their excellent efforts became pioneers in certain specific areas of work or trade. Literally the first or among a very few to attain such a feat and leaving no trail of unquestionable ethical conduct

  • Businesspersons or Business Leaders who have spent a considerably lengthy amount of time selflessly serving the interests and advancement of underprivileged race groups in business within South Africa, either through roles played/positions held in Organized Black Business Formations or by employing the use of their own individual influence and respect earned through their business interests in this regard.

  • Businesspersons or Business Leaders who have undoubtedly served the interests of Black Business with great distinction and stands out amongst their peers.

  • Businesspersons or Business Leaders who have consistently and exceptionally demonstrated Ethical Leadership and upheld Good Governance in the roles they had been entrusted with to advance the interests of Black Business and
    economically underprivileged communities, throughout their Leadership Life and Business Careers.

  • Businesspersons or Business Leaders who are highly regarded by their peers within Organized Black Business, the broader Business Chambers and Active Business Fraternities respectively, as having led a selfless life of service to their designated constituencies and the business community in general.

  • Individuals and Leaders who or Organizations that have over a notable period of time distinctly dedicated their lives\existence to selflessly working towards developing and uplifting the quality of people’s lives within particular localities. Historically underprivileged communities in particular.

  • Individuals who are transitioning between The Bpi Future Leader and The Business Excellence & Leadership Awards. They are above the age of fifty (50), They are recognized for their track record and leadership consistency, in what they have contributed to society. Their journey must have been very exemplary and highly ethical.
  • Young Professionals and Leaders of ages between 35 and 50 years who have throughout their careers in any chosen trade across different sectors, demonstrated extraordinary will and resilience to succeed under very difficult conditions.
  • Young professionals and leaders who have throughout their careers demonstrated very capable, solid, sound and highly Ethical Leadership.
  • Young professionals and leaders who have thus far in their careers managed to stay clear of any professional scandals or known and/or proven misconduct.
  • Young Professionals and Leaders who are highly regarded by and command wide respect amongst their peers beyond the boundaries of their chosen trade or profession, and from across different sectors of society.
  • Young professionals and leaders whose leadership The Bpi Foundation views as and declares to be a standard of leadership which young people should aspire to in their working, community, and societal life, even beyond the age of 50.
